Biography

Kiera Faber’s (Luxembourger & American) award winning works are featured in retrospectives, film festivals, galleries, and museums worldwide. Her work embraces the modalities of experimental film, analogue photography, textiles, and drawing; admiring the strengths in multiplicity and weaving connections amidst perceived disparities. She builds surreal worlds; fusing the known with the unknown, confounding what is real or imagined, and realizing the mystical other in metaphoric allegories.

Faber’s handmade experimental stop-frame animations have screened at the prestigious Atlanta Film Festival, Philadephia Film Festival, Seattle International Film Festival, Odense International Film Festival, South Bend Museum of Art, and George Eastman Museum. She was a guest filmmaker for retrospectives at MinnAnimate, the Cinematheque at the University of Wisconsin - Madison, and the Walker Art Center Cinema; honoring her visionary creations that challenge audiences. Faber’s still works have been exhibited at the Museum of Contemporary Photography, Philadephia Museum of Art Contemporary Craft Show, DeVos Art Museum, and Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art - Bedford.

She received her MFA from the Visual Studies Workshop after completing a BA in Psychology from the University of Rochester. Faber is a recipient of major funding for her work as a two-time Jerome Foundation grantee as well as a Fellowship in Media Arts from the McKnight Foundation. She is a collective artist member of the historic Vox Populi. Faber currently lives and works in Philadelphia.
